Chasing waterfalls in Valencia

On our second day of our Dumaguete escapade, We decided to visit the town of Valencia and go waterfalls chasing.

Valencia is a municipality in Negros Oriental that's located west of Dumaguete City.

To get here, we went near the marketplace and hailed a jeepney going to the town which took around an hour commute. Upon reaching there, we were greeted by habal-habal drivers and asked us our destination. One driver, kuya Robert (I still remembered his name), really catched our attention because his habal-habal can accomodate the 3 of us as compared to the others so we rented him and his motorcycle and asked him to tour us around the town.

Valencia's most photographed waterfall
We started the trip by going first to Casaroro Falls. The path to the falls were not easy to cruise on because the uphill road was muddy and damaged but we still managed to get to our goal. When we got there, we still need to hike down the stairs and trails leading to the waterfalls. Although going there is tiring, the adventure is well worth it.

Relatively enclosed by lush greenery and natural rock formations, Casaroro Falls is a sight to behold.

Paint the rocks red
I was curious when manong Robert told us that our next stop will be at the "red" waterfalls. Red waterfalls? This is new.

I didn't know that our next stop is at Pulangbato Falls.

Going here is relatively easy compared to Casaroro Falls. The road going here interests me because there’s a portion where we saw and smelled sulfuric smoke being emitted from the mountain walls.
The smoke is hot, I even saw water rising from the cracks of the road.

Upon reaching the place, we saw 2 bodies of water. one is I think for swimming and the other is only for picture taking (the real Pulangbato falls). To get to it, we had to go a little further down. The thing that makes this body of water unique is the naturally red rocks surrounding it thus, where the falls got its name.

I wish you were here
Lastly, we spent the whole afternoon in Forest Camp, a famous tourist spot in Valencia nearing Mt. Talinis.
The place started as a private property owned by a family (not sure who owns this hectares of land).
It was only opened to public in the year 1990.
